The above silver plate is part of a series of ten plates, depicting David and Goliath. These silver plates were discovered in Karavas Cyprus as part of the "Cyprus Treasure" in 1917. They were made in Constantinople under the emperor Heracleus, and were probably intended as an imperial gift. The above photographed plate is the largest, which shows David defeating Goliath with the surrounding plates appearing smaller within the series.

The above series is part of the Attarouthi treasure, displaying silver with silver gilt chalices and incense burners deriving from Northern Syria in the 6th-7th century.
