[TR Introduction] The levy of troops for the Bohemian wars gives us a picture of the relative size and importance of the various powers of Germany in 1422. The statisticians will note especially the concentration of power in the Rhine lands, The contingents to be furnished by the cities, afford an excellent scale of the relative importance of towns in the epoch concerned.
